Seán McLoughlin, known online as JackSepticEye, has clarified his role as a producer on the upcoming R-rated Bloodborne movie adaptation. Speaking on the podcast 100 Questions with Tom Simons, McLoughlin described his position as a "vibe-checker" for the film.

"I say that my role is that I'm the one being like, 'This is a good idea, this is a bad idea, we shouldn't do this,' but also I'm the one greenlighting who gets hired, and who we work with to make sure that vetting process is good," McLoughlin explained. He emphasized the importance of bringing on team members with genuine knowledge of Bloodborne, stating that the vetting process helps avoid bringing on anyone unfamiliar with the source material.

McLoughlin's approach focuses on preserving the game's identity rather than attempting to surpass or directly replicate it. "I'm not trying to shepherd the Bloodborne movie to become the game, or a movie that tries to one up the game or compete with it," he said. "My ambition is to honor the universe that's there and tell as good a story as I can within it."

The producer has previously discussed his deep passion for the Bloodborne franchise, suggesting that working on the film represents a significant personal project. Meanwhile, another From Software adaptation is in development, with director Alex Garland working on a live-action Elden Ring film for A24.
