A Full-Fledged Skyrim Mod Starring Matt Berry Is Here To Refresh The Game With An Ikea Ad

Furniture giant Ikea has launched an unexpected marketing campaign within Bethesda's role-playing epic, releasing a new modification for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim titled Kallax Storageborn. Available now for free via Bethesda's Creations page, the mod introduces a fully voiced companion that takes the form of the real-world Kallax shelving unit, voiced by actor Matt Berry.

Rather than merely serving as a stationary furniture item to organize an in-game home, the Kallax functions as a walking, talking companion with immense storage capacity. The modification goes beyond a simple item reskin by featuring an entirely new questline. Players trigger the quest by becoming over-encumbered in the game, which leads them to an abandoned Dwemer emporium. During the quest, players must track down and assemble the shelving unit, culminating in a boss fight. Once acquired, the shelf can be summoned using a newly added Thu'um—Skyrim's signature voice of power—even when it is not the active companion.

In addition to the companion and questline, the mod adds custom gear to the game, including the Allenblade (modeled after a giant allen wrench) and the Meatball Helmet. Footage of the mod showcases Matt Berry's extensive voice acting performance, including a modified version of the game's opening sequence. The modification is currently available for download on both PC and Xbox versions of the game.
