ESL FACEIT Group has announced that IEM Cologne 2027 will feature a 360-degree stage for the first time in the Counter-Strike event's history. The tournament will run from August 4-15, bringing together 24 of Counter-Strike's elite teams competing for a share of $1,250,000 and the Cologne trophy.

The playoffs will expand to eight teams, moving away from ESL's traditional six-team format for non-Major events. Running August 12-15, the playoffs will use a single-elimination bracket and take place at the LANXESS arena with the new 360-degree stage design.

IEM Cologne 2027 follows the record-breaking IEM Cologne 2026 Major, which became the highest-viewed Counter-Strike event in history. The 2026 Major attracted over 2.75 million peak concurrent viewers and over 100 million hours watched, finally surpassing the viewership record held by PGL Stockholm 2021.

Team Falcons won the 2026 Major, delivering Nikola 'NiKo' Kovač his first Major title. After the victory, he told Insider Gaming, "There was a lot of pain, but today it feels like it was all worth it." The event also marked redemption for Finn 'karrigan' Andersen, who joined Falcons after failing to qualify with FaZe and went on to win the championship.

Marc Winther, Director Esports Counter-Strike 2 at ESL FACEIT Group, commented on the upcoming edition: "What happened in Cologne this year was remarkable, and it once again showed what makes IEM Cologne so special. It brings together the world's best teams, fans from across the globe, an atmosphere unlike almost anywhere else in Counter-Strike, and a history that has made this tournament one of the game's most iconic events. With four days of Playoffs at the LANXESS arena and the 360-degree stage design, we have an opportunity to deliver our most ambitious edition yet while staying true to what has made IEM Cologne such an important part of esports history for more than a decade."

Tickets for IEM Cologne 2027 will become available on October 15, 2026.
