Rockstar Games has confirmed GTA 6 will feature an advanced weather system designed to simulate Florida's weather phenomena, according to Game Informer's issue 382 cover story published online on September 29, 2026.

The 14-page feature, based on interviews with Rockstar lead designers, reveals the weather system as one of several never-before-shared features. However, Rockstar has not specifically confirmed whether hurricanes or tropical storms will appear in the game, nor has it detailed how severe weather might affect gameplay, vehicles, or aircraft.

Fans have speculated about tropical storms and hurricanes in GTA 6 because the game takes place in Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida. Earlier job listings from Rockstar referenced dynamic weather systems, and an Amazon listing mentioned dynamic weather before the Game Informer reveal.

Several details about the weather system remain unconfirmed: whether hurricanes or tropical storms will appear, whether severe weather occurs in free roam or only in missions, whether weather affects vehicle and aircraft handling, and whether the game features seasonal weather changes.

GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. The Game Informer issue includes 12 new screenshots and coverage of wildlife in Leonida and Rockstar's research into Miami and Florida.
