An extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6 recently made waves by topping Netflix’s English film list. According to details shared on Netflix's website, Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look pulled in 31.1 million views and secured the number one spot across 87 of the 93 countries tracked globally.
The presentation, which took place on August 27, even managed to temporarily crash the platform at one point. The unprecedented premiere offered players nearly half an hour of footage—captured entirely from in-game footage on the PlayStation 5—diving deep into the story of characters Jason and Lucia alongside what players can expect from the Vice City setting. Netflix and the presentation materials highlighted the immense pressure facing the upcoming title as it attempts to follow in the footsteps of Grand Theft Auto V, which holds the record for the biggest entertainment launch of all time.
Ahead of the Netflix presentation, Grand Theft Auto 6 suffered several leaks. Developers are currently working alongside Microsoft and Discord to take legal action against the leaker responsible.
