Grand Theft Auto 6 Requires Raising Capital to Progress Through the Story

Money drives many conflicts in Rockstar’s open-world titles, but with Grand Theft Auto 6, managing funds is reportedly more essential to gameplay than ever before. According to a preview by IGN, players will sometimes need to raise a certain amount of capital to continue progressing through the game's story. Because protagonists Jason and Lucia fall in with bank robber Raul Bautista, big scores are a given and require upfront funds.

Players will not be forced to grind through standard competitive modes like races and deathmatches to scrounge up cash. Instead, players can organize their own heists, such as robbing banks, holding up local convenience stores, or stealing and selling cars, though vehicle theft will be notably more challenging than in previous titles in the franchise. Players can choose a faster approach by blowing open a safe for lower rewards, or take a slower approach by searching for a combination to open it safely. Taking too much time increases the risk of police intervention, with law enforcement potentially waiting outside before a chase ensues.

Once ill-gotten gains are secured, players must find a fence to sell their loot. Options range from quick convenience store robberies to more demanding jewelry store heists that offer higher payouts. Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19th for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
