Polyphony Digital Job Listings Suggest Gran Turismo 8 in Active Development

Polyphony Digital has posted a series of job listings on its official careers page that point toward active development on a new Gran Turismo project. While the studio has not officially announced Gran Turismo 8 by name, the hiring push aligns with an earlier statement from Polyphony confirming it was "staffing up for a new Gran Turismo project."

The open positions span multiple disciplines, including Build Engineer, Racing Programmer, Graphics Programmer, Vehicle Simulation Programmer, and UI Designer. Among the most notable postings is the Vehicle Simulation Programmer role, which describes responsibilities as working "to improve the vehicle simulation engine of the Gran Turismo series, and recreate mechanisms unique to individual cars." This language suggests a continued focus on the series' hallmark attention to technical detail and vehicle authenticity.

The timing of these listings follows Gran Turismo 7's release in March 2022 on PS5 and PS4. The game, which has received continuous content updates over the past four-and-a-half years, will turn five years old in March 2025. Separately, Polyphony Digital announced Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV during a recent State of Play broadcast, with updates planned for October and December ahead of the franchise's 30th anniversary in 2027.

Polyphony Digital has developed Gran Turismo games exclusively since 1997. The franchise is Sony's best-selling series of all time, with over 100 million units sold worldwide across all releases.
