Latest Gears of War: E-Day Trailer Focuses on Story and Prequel Characters at Gamescom 2026
A new narrative trailer for Gears of War: E-Day debuted at Gamescom 2026, offering a look at the prequel's campaign, Marcus Fenix, Dominic Santiago, and the Locust Horde leader.
During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, a dedicated story and campaign trailer for Gears of War: E-Day made its world premiere in Germany. The approximately two-minute preview highlights the prequel shooter's narrative elements, showcasing familiar characters scowling and arguing alongside various new faces. Notably, the showcase trailer features two separate instances of profanity, contrasting with typical showcase clips that generally limit themselves to a single instance. Canonically, characters in the game are reeling from a belief that they had moved past a human-versus-human war, only to be forced into conflict with monsters rising from the ground.
The newly debuted footage also provides a closer look at the early journey of franchise staples Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, as well as the leader of the Locust Horde. Set 14 years before the original title, Gears of War: E-Day takes place on Emergence Day, the historic event when the Locust Horde emerged onto the surface of Sera to wage war against humanity. The upcoming title marks the eleventh game in the broader series, following ten previous entries split evenly with five mainline titles.
As Xbox celebrates its 25th anniversary alongside a major reset to its approach regarding exclusive titles, Gears of War: E-Day is positioned as an Xbox console exclusive that will also launch on PC. The prequel shooter is officially scheduled to release on October 6.
