Halo's Former Creative Director Urges Activision to Hire Laid-Off Bungie and Halo Studios Developers
Frank O'Connor, who shaped Halo's creative direction, has advised Activision to consider hiring developers from Bungie and Halo Studios as the company navigates the franchise's future.

Frank O'Connor, Halo's former creative director, has publicly urged Activision to hire laid-off developers from Bungie and Halo Studios as the publisher looks ahead for the franchise.
O'Connor's advice comes as both studios have experienced significant personnel changes. Bungie, the franchise's original developer, laid off around 12% of its workforce in October 2023. Halo Studios, which developed recent entries in the series, has also undergone staffing reductions.
The recommendation reflects industry concerns about talent retention and continuity during transitions. O'Connor's involvement with Halo spans decades, including work on the original games and the franchise's broader creative vision.
Activision has held the rights to Halo since acquiring 343 Industries, the studio responsible for post-Bungie Halo development. The company has not publicly responded to O'Connor's suggestion regarding hiring practices.
