Fallout 76 Gets Free Xbox Series X|S Upgrade In September

Bethesda has announced that its seven-year-old title, Fallout 76, is scheduled to receive a free current-generation upgrade for Xbox Series X|S on September 15th. The upcoming technical enhancement arrives alongside the launch of a brand-new seasonal content rollout titled "The Slasher," which developers describe as a frightening experience unfolding progressively over the weeks of the fall update schedule.

According to official details, the autumn seasonal narrative centers around the legacy of the Pint-Sized Slasher. Players will track a murderous lunatic and his cadre of Slasher fanatics across the wasteland. Appalachian adventurers must hunt for clues, unearth unmarked graves, and fight off the hostile fanatics infesting the map. The storyline culminates in a confrontation with the Pint-Sized imposter, offering participants a chance to earn a unique Power Armor set alongside a brand-new instrument of murder known as the “Super Slasher.”

Alongside the seasonal content, the Gen 9 boost will benefit players on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, alongside updates that also touch other consoles. All console players are set to enjoy enhanced performance, stability, and visual fidelity. This system upgrade additionally provides developers with the opportunity to further optimize each individual platform moving forward. The performance improvements target better draw distance, shadow detail, smoother frame rates, and higher resolutions on supported hardware.

Furthermore, the update introduces unique weapon crafting to workbenches across the wasteland. Players can now unlock their full potential by changing Legendary mods on more than 80 uniquely named weapons found throughout the game world. Seasonal systems are also expanding to give players access to both current seasons and previously missed Legacy Seasons.

The September 15th upgrade is free of charge for all existing owners of the game, as well as for players who access Fallout 76 through an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
