Fading Echo is launching today on PlayStation 5. Developed by Emeteria, a New Tales studio, the fast-paced elemental action-adventure RPG puts players in the role of One, a young Legend fighting to save Corel, a fractured world being consumed by a mysterious force called the Paradox.

The game's core mechanic revolves around Æther, One's water-based elemental power. Players can manipulate water, transform into a living blob of it, and weaponize it in combat. Movement itself becomes a tool: as a blob, players can build momentum, surf through pipes, squeeze through narrow cracks, and launch themselves across environments to reach new areas and solve puzzles. In combat, this translates to tactics like water-bombing enemies from above or using Æther to drench foes before conducting energy through them.

Elemental reactions form a second layer of strategy. Drenched enemies react differently when exposed to lava, toxic waste, and Paradox corruption. Players can solidify elements to reshape the battlefield or trigger chain reactions that turn encounters in their favor. Emeteria designed these systems to reward experimentation rather than push players toward a single sequence of attacks. As the developer notes, "There's rarely just One answer."

Reality shifting adds another dimension to exploration and combat. The Paradox has fractured Corel into alternate realities, and One can shift between different versions of the same space. A blocked path in one reality might be accessible in another. An element needed to solve a puzzle could exist on the other side of a shift. In combat, shifting changes the available resources, hazards, and elements, allowing the same encounter to play out differently depending on where players choose to fight.

The single-player adventure follows One's journey across floating islands and fractured realities as she searches for a way to stop the Paradox before it consumes what remains of Corel. Her path leads her to Maddock, the ruthless leader of the Paradox. Along the way, One meets a small group of unlikely allies, each with their own relationship to the decaying world and to One herself. The narrative also explores One's past and identity alongside the larger mission to save Corel.

A demo is available today on PlayStation 5 alongside the full release, allowing players to get a first taste of the game before committing to the full adventure.
