Dying Light 2 Crossplay and Cross-Platform Compatibility Explained

Players looking to team up in Techland's open-world zombie game may be wondering about its multiplayer limitations. According to recent reports, Dying Light 2 does not currently support full cross-platform functionality between different console families and personal computers. This means that players on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC cannot connect with one another for cooperative sessions.

However, the 2022 title does support cross-generation play within the same console ecosystems. This allows players utilizing a PlayStation 5 to join games with friends playing on a PlayStation 4. Similarly, Xbox One users can play alongside those on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. On the PC side of things, players launching the game through Steam are able to connect and play with friends who purchased and run the game via the Epic Games Store.

While the lack of cross-platform multiplayer across different brands may disappoint some cooperative gaming groups, the inclusion of cross-generation matchmaking ensures that players upgrading their hardware within the same console family can still continue playing with their friends who remain on older systems. Techland has not announced any immediate plans to expand the game's crossplay features to encompass all available platforms.
