Doki Doki Literature Club Returns to Android via Epic Games Store

Doki Doki Literature Club is returning to Android devices through an exclusive release on the Epic Games Store. Epic Games has been in dialogue with developer Serenity Forge over bringing the visual novel back to Android since Google removed the title from its Play Store in April due to its depiction of sensitive themes.

While the game remains unavailable on the Google Play Store, it has stayed on sale across other digital storefronts including Steam, the PlayStation Store, Nintendo's eShop, and Apple's App Store. Following the initial removal, Serenity Forge stated it was looking into potential options for alternate methods of distribution on Android devices.

Although Doki Doki Literature Club initially presents itself as a romance-themed visual novel, the story later transitions into a horror experience exploring mental health and depicting self-harm. On platforms like Apple's App Store, it is rated 18+ and labeled as psychological horror, featuring warnings noting that the game is unsuitable for children or those who are easily disturbed.
