Diablo IV Details Season of Hell's Legacy, Amazon Class, and Switch 2 Release
During BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard revealed new details for Diablo IV, including the upcoming Season of Hell's Legacy, the return of the Amazon class in 2027, and a Switch 2 launch.

MaxGG News reports that during a dedicated panel at BlizzCon 2026, the development team outlined the roadmap for Diablo IV. This presentation covered upcoming seasonal content, the return of a classic character class, and a new platform release.
Season of Hell's Legacy launches on September 15, 2026. This update coincides with the game's release on the Switch 2 alongside the Diablo IV Age of Hatred Collection. The season marks the pinnacle of the franchise's 30th-anniversary celebration. It features the return of Deckard Cain as a lost soul walking through Sanctuary. Players will face the Echoes of the Prime Evils, which include Mephisto, Baal, and Diablo. These encounters take place in iconic locations such as the Worldstone Chamber, the Durance of Hate, and the original Tristram Cathedral.
By defeating enemies, players can assume a Splinter of Evil from one of the three Prime Evils to become a dark wanderer. This mechanic introduces reputation tracks, granting additional powers to fight the specific Prime Evil whose stone the player bears. The season also introduces Waking Nightmares, which are redesigned dungeons allowing players to relive encounters from past Diablo titles, including Diablo I, Diablo II, Diablo III, and Diablo Immortal. Nearly twenty bosses, such as Nihlathak and the Maggot Queen, along with characters like Leah, return in these nightmares. Furthermore, nine legacy Uniques, including Leoric's Crown and the Stone of Jordan, make their permanent debut.
Looking beyond the immediate update, Blizzard announced that the Amazon class will return in the first half of 2027 as a paid Class Pack. Purchase details will be shared closer to launch next year. The class is built upon three design pillars: battle expertise, unrivaled athleticism, and mythical magic. Four archetypes will shape the Amazon class, including the Champion, the Skirmisher, the Ranger, and the Commander. Future seasons will also continue the story established in the Season of Death's Awakening, while introducing expansions to War Plans, playlist customization, and itemization.
Beyond Diablo IV, Blizzard made several broader franchise announcements during BlizzCon 2026. A collaboration with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was unveiled, an animated Netflix series based on the franchise is in development, and Diablo V was officially announced with a planned release window of Spring 2029.
