Diablo 4 Season 15 Launches After Major Server Delay and Login Errors
Diablo 4's Season of Hell's Legacy has officially launched, though its initial rollout faced a severe multi-hour delay due to login errors.

The launch of Diablo 4's 15th season, Season of Hell's Legacy, got off to a rough start. Announced at BlizzCon 2026 to coincide with a 30th anniversary celebration of the franchise, the anticipated season eventually went live on September 15, but only after a delay of over six hours caused by severe login issues.
During the outage, players trying to access the game reported running into error codes 300006 and 300008, rendering Diablo 4 entirely inaccessible. Blizzard acknowledged the issue on X, stating that they were actively working to resolve the problem. The team subsequently delayed the launch of Season 15. While Blizzard eventually resolved the login errors, some features had to be temporarily disabled. Specifically, the Solo Self Found mode has been disabled with no current timeline for its return.
Despite the rocky launch, the update is one of the meatiest seasons for Diablo 4 so far. It brings back the iconic character Deckard Cain to lead players through a quest against the three prime evils: Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo. The season features a new activity called Waking Nightmares, which recreates classic boss fights and settings, including Tristram Cathedral. Additionally, the update introduces nine Legacy Unique items inspired by classic gear from past games.
This launch also coincided with the release of Diablo 4 on the Switch 2, meaning the server outage served as the very first experience of the game for players on that platform.
Alongside thematic content, Season 15 implements significant structural changes to the way players acquire Mythic items, addressing ongoing feedback about the tedious grind. Unique items are now available starting at the first level across all difficulties. Furthermore, unique Mythic drop rates have been increased across the board, and players are now guaranteed a Mythic drop when defeating Echo of Mephisto.
The update arrives following a series of major announcements at BlizzCon 2026. Blizzard revealed that the Amazon class from Diablo 2 will return to Diablo 4 as part of a paid pack in the first half of 2027. Additionally, the developer surprise-announced Diablo 5 for a 2029 release, alongside a Netflix animated show. Blizzard confirmed that while seasonal updates for Diablo 4 will continue for the foreseeable future, there will be no more full-blown expansions for the game as focus shifts to Diablo 5.
