Valve has released a significant update to Counter-Strike 2 that introduces a silent reload mechanic alongside a new competitive game mode and several quality-of-life improvements.

The headline feature allows players to reload silently by holding the reload key, though the tradeoff is a considerably longer reload time. This tactical option gives players a way to reposition without alerting enemies to their location. Complementing this change, unscoping a sniper rifle no longer produces audible feedback, removing another audio cue that could give away player position.

The update also debuts Rush, a fast-paced 3v3 queued game mode where teams battle through randomly selected arenas to reach the opponent's castle. Each match features different battle arenas, ensuring varied gameplay. Teams earn points by controlling a tower when they eliminate the opposing team or when time expires.

Beyond these headline additions, the patch addresses numerous map and gameplay details. The Premier map selection process has been updated to give players more opportunities to learn maps they're studying. A pixel gap at Balcony looking into Palace on Mirage has been patched, along with other map geometry adjustments on Long A Main Hall, Jaguar, and other locations.

The crosshair system received an overhaul with resolution-independent styling and a new Crosshair/Scopes settings tab. The default crosshair has been updated to "Dynamic Quad" to better represent actual weapon accuracy. Clan tags have made a return, allowing players who are members of Steam Community Groups to set a clan identifier from their Player Profile.

Visual improvements include globally increased clarity and improved fidelity of bullet impact decals and blood. The update also added the ability to apply stickers to C4 and introduced the Starjunk 95 Industrial Sunset Memories Music Kit in standard and StatTrak versions.

Valve also updated the engine code to the latest version of Source 2 and made various backend improvements including new entity types for mapping and API methods for custom game modes.
