Control Resonant runs at 864p on Xbox Series X and S, both hitting 30FPS in quality mode

Digital Foundry's analysis shows Control Resonant achieves visual parity with PlayStation 5 on Xbox Series X, though the PS5 Pro remains the best console version. Series S gets a single 30FPS mode.

Control Resonant is arriving on Xbox in the coming days, and early performance analysis reveals how the game scales across Xbox's current-generation hardware.

On Xbox Series X, the game runs at native 864p and 1260p with upscaling, delivering "visual and performance parity with the PlayStation 5" according to Digital Foundry. The console supports two graphical modes: a quality setting targeting 30FPS and a performance mode aiming for 60FPS, both described as largely stable. The PlayStation 5 Pro, however, remains the best console version.

Xbox Series S receives a single graphical mode running at 864p and 30FPS, matching the Series X's 30FPS quality mode settings.

Digital Foundry identified visual compromises across all non-PS5 Pro consoles. "The game's cascaded shadow maps often look incoherent and artifact-ridden from distant views," the outlet wrote. "Screen-space reflections prove a fine solution for specular lighting, but the reflection detail isn't preserved when on-screen details are occluded." The analysis also noted camera collision issues and poor image clarity on base consoles, with "substantial breakup and a poor resolve on fine details."

Despite these limitations, Digital Foundry described Control Resonant's presentation as "engaging" overall, saying it "demonstrates both the flexibility and the limits of Remedy's Northlight engine as it transitions into open-world territory."
