Castlevania Turns 40 With Digital Sales, Free Mobile Release, and Fan Speculation Over 3D Collection

Konami is marking the 40th anniversary of the Castlevania franchise with a series of digital discounts, soundtrack releases, an orchestral concert, and a free mobile release of the original game. As part of the milestone celebrations, the original title is available to download for free on the App Store and Google Play until October 24, 2026. This mobile version features no ads or in-app purchases and can be played offline.

Alongside the mobile release, Konami launched deep discounts of up to 80 percent across various digital storefronts including the PlayStation Store and Steam. PlayStation platforms feature sales on the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, Castlevania Dominus Collection, Castlevania Advance Collection, and Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood until October 7. Steam store discounts run until October 8 and cover multiple titles, including the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series.

Additional anniversary plans include the Castlevania 40th Anniversary An Orchestral Concert scheduled for Spring 2027 in Los Angeles and London. Official soundtracks are also arriving on streaming platforms, starting with music from Castlevania Black and Red. These celebrations precede the upcoming launch of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, which arrives on October 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.

Eagle-eyed fans discussing the newly released 40th anniversary video have also engaged in speculation regarding a potential upcoming collection. Near the end of the video, protagonist Simon Belmont walks past portraits featuring cover art from three 3D-era titles. While Konami has not confirmed any new compilation, observers noted the inclusion of art from Lament of Innocence, Curse of Darkness, and Lords of Shadow alongside artwork for the upcoming Belmont's Curse.
