Castlevania Celebrates 40 Years With Free NES Game and Anniversary Concert
Konami is marking Castlevania's 40th anniversary with a temporary free distribution of the original NES game on mobile, a vinyl soundtrack compilation, and concert performances coming to London, Los Angeles, and Tokyo in Spring 2027.
Konami has launched a dedicated website for Castlevania's 40th anniversary, announcing several celebrations including a limited-time free mobile game, music releases, and live performances.
The original NES Castlevania is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play through October 24, 2026. Described as a "direct port," the mobile version features on-screen virtual controllers styled to resemble a GBA Micro. Konami confirmed the game has no always-online requirement and remains playable after the giveaway period ends, provided it's downloaded before the deadline.
The anniversary also includes Music from Castlevania – Black & Red, a 46-record vinyl compilation launching in Q3 2026. The soundtrack will become available for streaming on September 26, 2026.
Konami announced an anniversary concert coming to Spring 2027, with confirmed dates in London, Los Angeles, and Tokyo, though additional details remain limited.
The celebration arrives ahead of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, the series' next entry launching October 15, 2026 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
