Capcom provided fresh details regarding character mechanics and stage designs for Mega Man Dual Override during the Capcom Spotlight Tokyo Game Show 2026 presentation. Following his initial introduction in August 2026, the showcase offered a closer look at how Proto Man handles compared to Mega Man. While Mega Man is designed as a balanced character focusing on long-range attacks, Proto Man acts as a close-range fighter with a stronger emphasis on melee combat.

Instead of acquiring new weapons after defeating Robot Masters, Proto Man earns new shield-based actions and abilities. Players can pull up a shield to block incoming damage, and charging the shield unleashes a powerful melee attack capable of striking multiple threats at once. Both characters can utilize a powered-up Override form, which grants them a new appearance. Players can further customize their playstyles using Custom Chips, with more than 50 active and passive chips available in the game. Mega Man options include the Rapid Buster for faster firing and the Barrier to nullify damage.

The presentation also outlined changes to the stage structure. While traditional mainline entries typically feature straightforward levels, Dual Override divides each stage into three distinct areas to emphasize variety. The game is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
