Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 will not receive any further expansions ahead of the release of Diablo 5 in 2029. Following the surprise reveal of Diablo 5 at BlizzCon, questions emerged regarding the future support of Diablo 4 during the three-year wait. While Blizzard announced a returning Amazon class arriving in the first half of 2027, the studio has no plans for major expansions.

"We're all focused on seasons and getting to Diablo 5," Diablo game director Brent Gibson told PC Gamer. Gibson noted that the studio feels they told the story of hatred and achieved a great conclusion with Lord of Hatred involving Mephisto, as they now move toward telling the story of terror. Although major expansions are off the table, future story content will instead be delivered through upcoming seasons. Blizzard aims to bridge continuity between the titles using seasonal updates, though the exact shape of those plans remains flexible based on fan reactions.

In the immediate term, Diablo 4 launched the Season of Hell's Legacy. The update celebrates the franchise's 30th anniversary, featuring Deckard Cain and a quest confronting the three original Prime Evils of Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto. The same day also marked the release of the Switch 2 port, which contains all previously released content.
