BioMenace Remastered Announced for Nintendo Switch
Developer Rigel Gameworks has announced BioMenace Remastered, an enhanced version of the 1993 MS-DOS run-and-gun classic coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Developer Rigel Gameworks has announced that BioMenace Remastered is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch. The upcoming title is scheduled to launch digitally on October 8, 2026, marking the return of the classic MS-DOS run-and-gun action platformer.
The original BioMenace was created by solo developer James Norwood and originally released for MS-DOS in 1993 by Apogee Software. This newly remastered edition features enhanced graphics, refined gameplay, and numerous quality-of-life improvements. Beyond updating the original package, the remaster includes the game's original three episodes—comprising over 36 levels—alongside a brand-new fourth episode.
Titled “Menace from Above,” this new fourth episode adds over 15 levels to the game, offering fresh environments, new music, unique challenges, and new enemies. Players will navigate diverse locales ranging from cities and forests to underground caves and secret high-tech labs. The core loop tasks players with rescuing hostages, defeating a variety of hazards, collecting score items, and uncovering hidden secret levels. To assist in combat, players can find grenades and special weapons to use against normal enemies and nine unique bosses.
In addition to the main campaigns, BioMenace Remastered introduces modern features such as achievements, online leaderboards for high scores and best times, and a built-in level editor that allows players to create and share their own custom levels.
The game’s story follows Snake Logan, a top-secret CIA operative who is dispatched to Metro City after thousands of monster-like creatures overrun the area. The crisis is orchestrated by the villainous Dr. Mangle, who threatens to destroy the rest of the world if governments do not comply with his wishes. After Logan's reconnaissance plane is shot down by a laser weapon, he is forced to crash-land and navigate the ruined city on foot to rescue survivors and halt Dr. Mangle's plans.
