Bill Skarsgård cast as lead in Kojima's PHYSINT at Tokyo Game Show 2026

Hideo Kojima announced Bill Skarsgård as the lead actor in PHYSINT, his upcoming stealth-action game, during Xbox's Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast. The reveal includes a new poster featuring Skarsgård and co-star Charlee Fraser, with the tagline "The Next Cold War Begins."

"I'm delighted to confirm the lead role for PHYSINT will be Bill Skarsgård," Kojima said in a statement. "We are both long-time fans of each other's work, and we've decided to embark on this new adventure together. The costume fittings, scans, and camera tests we conducted with Bill and Charlee earlier this year gave me tremendous confidence in the direction of the project."

Skarsgård joins a cast that includes Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe. The announcement also confirms that Yoji Shinkawa, the legendary character designer behind Metal Gear Solid, is returning to handle character and mechanical design for the project following his work on Death Stranding.

PHYSINT represents Kojima Productions' spiritual successor to the Metal Gear Solid franchise. The game was originally in development as a PlayStation exclusive before the publisher reportedly ended the partnership over budget overruns and missed deadlines. Xbox subsequently picked up publishing duties, marking the first major announcement since the transition.

Skarsgård is known for roles including Pennywise in the recent It duology, Count Orlok in 2024's Nosferatu, and the Marquis Vincent de Gramont in John Wick: Chapter 4. Kojima Productions and Xbox are already collaborating on OD – Knock, which featured new behind-the-scenes footage at the same Tokyo Game Show presentation.
