Obsidian Entertainment has been reorganized under Bethesda's management following this week's Xbox studio shakeup, but the move is primarily administrative rather than creative, according to Bethesda boss Jill Braff.

In an email to employees, Braff emphasized that the restructuring preserves Obsidian's identity and current work. "Today's announcement is primarily a change in reporting structure," she wrote. "The creative identity and strengths that make Obsidian distinct will remain at the core of their studio and work."

Obsidian leadership, headed by Feargus Urquhardt, will continue running the studio but now report directly to Braff. Bethesda Game Studios remains the lead on the Fallout franchise. The two teams will collaborate on new Fallout projects already in development.

"To be clear, we're not resetting our roadmap or asking teams to change what they're focused on," Braff stated. "We'll take the time to understand how teams can best support one another, and where closer partnership can benefit our players and fans."

Bethesda has previously confirmed it is developing Fallout 5, a Fallout 3 remaster, and a Fallout: New Vegas remaster alongside the new Fallout project with Obsidian. The organizational alignment reflects the studios' deepening partnership on these titles.

The shakeup also affected other studios. Rare and World's Edge have transitioned out of Xbox Game Studios as part of the broader restructuring, leaving Xbox Game Studios with a reduced roster of teams.
