Beat Saber's Biggest Update Arrives Spring 2027 With Flux Mode and Full Hand Tracking
Beat Games is releasing its largest update ever for Beat Saber next spring, introducing Flux, a new game mode that replaces sabers with hand-based combat, plus full hand tracking support across the game, a rewards system, and a refreshed single-player

Beat Saber will receive its biggest update ever in spring 2027, arriving alongside Meta's newly announced VR Glasses. The update centers on Flux, a new game mode that fundamentally changes how players interact with the rhythm game.
Flux removes the iconic sabers and replaces them with hand-based gameplay. Players use techniques like the Flux Tether, which channels power between hands to slice through notes in time with the beat. The tether powers each hand separately to punch through note targets and build up Jolt energy. When enough energy accumulates, squeezing fists while slicing notes triggers Jolt for a score boost.
Flux launches with thirty-five songs from Beat Saber's existing catalog, including tracks from Lindsey Stirling, Teminite, Camellia, and Boom Kitty alongside in-house compositions from Jaroslav Beck and Zakka G. The mode supports both hand tracking and Touch controllers, with more songs planned post-launch.
Beyond the new mode, Beat Games is revamping the single-player campaign with a light narrative element and new barriers and missions. Completing these unlocks exclusive rewards. The user interface receives a refresh to speed up navigation and game mode access, while an improved first-time experience teaches newcomers the basics.
The update introduces Beat Saber's first-ever rewards system, granting players cosmetics like new sabers and notes. A new inventory system lets players customize profiles with badges and banners and quickly swap cosmetics.
A major feature is full hand tracking support across the entire game. The move addresses the fact that Meta's VR Glasses will ship without controllers. Hand tracking technology has improved enough to handle rapid hand movements required for rhythm gameplay. Traditional controller support remains unchanged.
