Hardware Leakers Disagree on Potential 2027 GPU Releases
New rumors suggest AMD and Nvidia may delay almost all of their next-generation graphics cards until 2028, with only a single mid-range AMD GPU potentially launching in 2027.

The hardware community faces conflicting reports regarding the timeline for next-generation graphics cards. Prolific hardware leaker Kepler_L2, writing on the Anandtech forums, claims that only a single new GPU will arrive next year. According to the leaker, "AT2 is the only GPU getting released next year. Everything else from both AMD and Nvidia is 2028."
The AT2 codename refers to a GPU supposedly destined for Xbox Project Helix, which has been expected to launch in 2027. This chip is not expected to represent the peak of AMD's next-generation lineup. Rumors have long pointed to a more powerful AT0, or "Alpha Triton 0," GPU featuring 96 compute units to compete with Nvidia's RTX 6080-level hardware. If the latest leak is accurate, AMD will launch its mid-range, console-bound GPU first, delaying its high-end PC offerings.
This timeline would also mean Nvidia will not release any entirely new GPUs in 2027. However, hardware leakers do not agree on this outlook. Another well-known leaker, Moore's Law is Dead, claims that Nvidia could still launch an RTX 6090 in 2027. When addressing this alternative timeline, Kepler_L2 responded simply that "he's wrong."
The current global memory shortage has already disrupted the hardware market, leading to high prices and cancelled products. Previous rumors of Nvidia releasing "Super" refreshes of its current RTX 50-series cards, which would have focused on upgraded memory configurations, have reportedly been cancelled. Kepler_L2's claim leaves open the slim possibility of minor refreshes, but truly new GPU architectures from both major manufacturers appear increasingly likely to wait until 2028.
