Xbox Disc to Digital Reaches All Insider Rings Ahead of Public Release

The Xbox Disc to Digital feature is now available across all Xbox Insider rings, bringing potential benefits like Xbox Play Anywhere and Cloud Gaming support for compatible titles.

The Xbox Disc to Digital program has reached a new milestone, rolling out to every Xbox Insider ring. Following its initial reveal a few weeks ago, this expansion suggests a full public release may be approaching. The feature allows players to claim a digital entitlement for compatible games, offering additional perks such as Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming support for applicable titles, which are features not found on standard physical discs.

Testing has also shown that the converted digital licenses work offline when utilized on a designated "Home" Xbox console. However, the program comes with certain limitations regarding compatibility and publisher participation. Currently, titles from publishers such as SEGA, Square Enix, and Ubisoft do not appear to be participating in the initiative, meaning games like Judgment and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy cannot be converted at this time. Furthermore, the feature is exclusively restricted to Xbox One and Xbox Series X games, excluding any releases from the original Xbox or Xbox 360 eras.

Players looking to utilize the service have noted various supported titles they plan to convert, ranging from Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series to various LEGO titles and Disney Infinity 3.0. Importantly, users are reminded that claiming a digital entitlement via the service does not stop their physical discs from working.
