Wax Heads gets physical Nintendo Switch release with 3,000 copies
Super Rare Games is publishing a boxed version of the cozy-punk narrative sim Wax Heads for Nintendo Switch, featuring the game on cartridge plus manual, sticker, and trading cards. Pre-orders start October 8.

Super Rare Games is releasing Wax Heads as a physical Nintendo Switch title, partnering with Curve Games and developer Patattie Games. The boxed edition will be limited to 3,000 copies and includes the game on cartridge, full-color manual, exclusive sticker, and trading cards.
Wax Heads is a cozy-punk narrative sim about managing a struggling record store called Repeater Records. Players chat with customers to help them find music recommendations, explore a collection of over 80 hand-drawn albums, and interact with a cast of quirky characters. The game features puzzles tied to music discovery, from decoding customer clues to designing gig posters and running lights for local bands.
The soundtrack spans dozens of original tracks across multiple genres and eras, designed to feel like nostalgic finds. The game's world includes fictional bands with their own lore, such as Scandinavian metal band Jarhead and rapper RXXX.
Wax Heads originally launched as a digital download in May. Patattie Games is a two-person indie duo consisting of creative doodler Murray Somerwolff, known for Welcome to Elk and Spitkiss, and creative programmer Rothio Tome, a former Unity developer support engineer and GameDev streamer.
Pre-orders for the physical Switch version begin October 8 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM UK / 7 PM Europe through Super Rare Games.
