TBSF Releases All Sonic the Hedgehog Blender Rigs Free Forever

TBSF has released all of their Sonic the Hedgehog Blender character rigs for free, making them permanently available to the 3D animation community. The collection includes seven rigs: four different Sonic variants, Shadow the Hedgehog, Amy Rose, and Tails the Fox.

The rigs are animation-ready and feature inverse and forward kinematics support, with deformation-friendly lattices and bendy bones for squash and stretch deformation. Shadow the Hedgehog is the newest addition, currently available as an early release with the final version launching October 1. Unlike the other rigs, Shadow was created with the RigUI add-on in mind, so TBSF recommends installing that before working with the model.

The rigs are intended for intermediate Blender users and require existing knowledge of scene setup, lighting, and rendering. TBSF maintains a Discord server where animators can ask questions and receive support from the artist or other community members.

When the free release was announced, some community members speculated that TBSF might be leaving Sonic 3D content creation. The artist clarified they are not leaving the community but shifting their focus toward different projects. According to TBSF, future Sonic the Hedgehog rigs will most likely also be released for free.

All rigs are available on Ko-fi for non-commercial use only. TBSF continues to update and improve their existing rigs on an ongoing basis.
