Supercell has returned its monster-hunting game Mo.co to beta development, acknowledging that the title is not performing as well as expected and requires significant changes to achieve mass appeal.

The current version of Mo.co will continue running on low maintenance while Supercell's team focuses on experimenting and testing new features. "We previously shared that mo.co isn't performing as well as we had hoped, and it will need bigger changes to get where we want it to be," Supercell wrote in a blog post. "With that in mind we've decided to move the game back to Beta."

Upcoming seasons will not introduce new weapons or premium pass tracks. Instead, the seasonal pass system will lose its premium tracks and weapons entirely. Elite Merch will recycle cosmetics from Seasons 1 to 4, with limited premium cosmetics also planned. Supercell intends to release experimental content that may only be available temporarily.

The studio aims to accelerate its update cadence. "Our goal is to release updates more frequently and reduce the wait between them," the team explained. The next update is targeted for before the end of 2026, though no specific date has been announced.

Supercell said players' Cosmetics and Collector Levels are not currently planned for reset. The company is evaluating whether future changes could affect Weapons, Cores and Career Level, but any reset would only occur if necessary.

The shift to beta has resulted in organizational changes. Mo.co's community manager, Joao, will be redeployed to a different role within Supercell as the game no longer requires full-time community management.

Mo.co launched via invite-only rollout in March 2025 following limited beta tests that began in October 2023. It became fully playable worldwide without an invite in July 2025. According to Appmagic estimates, Mo.co has generated $7 million in in-app purchase revenue from 9.2 million downloads. Top markets by revenue are the United States (27%), Japan (12%), Germany (7%), France (6%) and South Korea (5%).

This marks the second major reset for Mo.co. Supercell rebooted the game in May and again in August, when the studio floated the possibility of shutting down the title entirely. The company insisted that closing Mo.co "remains an unlikely scenario."
