Snap CEO Evan Spiegel demonstrated the company's Specs standalone AR glasses during a live presentation, showcasing capabilities that will ship this fall in the US, UK, and France for $2,195.

Spiegel showed the main Snap OS interface, where users access shortcuts to Specs Intelligence, the home screen, and quick controls by poking their palms with a finger. The home screen launches a floating window that users interact with by pointing and pinching.

The demonstration included several applications and experiences. Snapchat runs natively on Specs, allowing users to take and send pictures by pinching their fingers and make video calls where the other person sees the wearer's first-person view. YouTube loads in the web browser, accessible through voice commands to Specs Intelligence. A Shopify-backed AR shopping experience lets users place products into their physical environment at true scale before purchasing.

Additional demos showed a port of the Quest app Pencil, which teaches drawing by displaying path outlines, and HBO's official Harry Potter experience, which includes receiving a Hogwarts acceptance letter from an owl and casting the Wingardium Leviosa spell.

Snap also announced that Specs will include a cross-platform AI agent and an optional cellular charging case for on-the-go connectivity. Preorders opened in June, with Specs positioned as the first fully standalone true AR glasses outside China and the most advanced consumer AR glasses currently available.
