Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen will connect to Pokémon HOME starting October 7, 2026, when The Pokémon Company performs scheduled maintenance on the storage service.

Pokémon HOME will be unavailable during maintenance beginning at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7. The Switch and mobile apps will update to Version 4.1.0 to support the new compatibility. The Pokémon Company stated: "Pokémon HOME will undergo maintenance starting at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7, to support integration with the Nintendo Switch software Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. All services will be unavailable during the maintenance period, so please understand this in advance."

Once the update goes live, players can transfer Pokémon from FireRed and LeafGreen into HOME and then move them to other games in the series. However, this movement is one-way. Pokémon sent from FireRed or LeafGreen to another title cannot be brought back to the remakes. The same restriction applies in reverse: Pokémon from other games cannot be transferred into FireRed or LeafGreen.

This connectivity update was announced last month alongside news that Pokémon Bank, the predecessor service on Nintendo 3DS, will shut down in February 2027.
