New Web Project Play Music Theory Turns Drawings Into Ambient Audio

Artist Tala Schlossberg has released play_music_theory, a free browser instrument that converts user sketches into ambient music reminiscent of Minecraft.

A new web-based project called play_music_theory allows users to convert their drawings into ambient music. Created by artist Tala Schlossberg, the tool is described as a visual instrument designed to help explore the relationship between sound and shape.

Players can use a simple pen tool and a limited selection of colors to sketch on the screen before hitting play to hear their drawings translated into audio. The web version is free to use, while extra features are available for purchase alongside a paid application.

Users can customize their creations by choosing a specific musical key, setting the beat, and adjusting the exact tempo. Finished loops can be exported as WAV or MIDI files for external use. Additional details and examples can be found through the project's official Instagram page.
