Creative production studio Piñata has announced its return as an independent creative studio after operating as an in-house team for mobile game developer Metacore. The studio, which was originally founded in 2008, will now operate independently once again to focus on its creative roots across illustration, animation, visual development, and user acquisition creatives.

Metacore acquired 100 percent of Piñata in 2023. During its stint under Metacore, Piñata's primary focus was strengthening the developer's in-house marketing and creative capabilities, particularly working on the mobile hit Merge Mansion. Now, the studio is moving back to its original positioning as an external partner for various entertainment and gaming brands.

Before its time with Metacore, Piñata built a portfolio working with major industry names. Its past clients include Supercell, Rovio, Wooga, Housemarque, Zynga, and Moomin Characters. In a public statement, the team expressed excitement about this new chapter.

“Throughout the years we've worked with the likes of Supercell, Rovio, Wooga, Housemarque, Zynga, and Moomin Characters,” the team wrote. “Now's the time to go back to our roots.” The studio added, “Call it a renaissance or the best comeback of the 2020s, we are now open to work! Same team, same passion, even more experience and levelled-up skills!” Piñata is now actively accepting new creative projects.
