OneState, the mobile open-world RPG that launched into version 1.0 on Android and iOS in April, is getting a major overhaul. Developer ChillBase, led by founder Matvei Lipatnikov, revealed the scope of the coming update in a recent developer video.

The update includes the most significant graphical changes OneState has ever seen. The redesign focuses on replicating real-world Los Angeles with improvements across draw distances, textures, lighting, reflections, weather systems, and character models. The skybox has been made more realistic, foliage has been completely overhauled, and HDR, dynamic exposure, and parallax settings for buildings have all been adjusted.

According to Lipatnikov: "This is way more than just a graphics patch. We sat down and rethought how you see OneState from the ground up. Lighting, reflections, materials, models, textures… We needed all of it."

Beyond visuals, the update introduces a new playable map called LA 2040. This near-future version of Los Angeles blends technological advancement with traditional run-down areas around the city's outskirts, creating an environment that feels new while maintaining familiarity with the existing map.

The update also brings several gameplay additions and quality-of-life improvements. A content creator support programme is being introduced, along with upgrades to the in-game chat system and customizable profiles. New gameplay features include expanded fishing mechanics and "Superseasons" that offer unique, emergent gameplay opportunities.

OneState entered early access in 2022 before reaching full release in April of this year. The game positions itself as a mobile alternative to large-scale open-world crime RPGs, drawing comparisons to Grand Theft Auto on console and PC.
