Nintendo has acknowledged an error in its Nintendo Today app quiz celebrating The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary. The daily question, presented on September 16th, asked what happens when Link approaches Bokoblins while wearing the Bokoblin Mask.

The quiz offered two answers: "They surround him" or "They treat him as one of their own". Both responses are correct in Breath of the Wild. When wearing the mask, Bokoblins do treat Link as one of their own while simultaneously surrounding him. However, the app marked only one answer as correct, penalizing players who selected the other valid option.

Nintendo posted an apology message on the app's card-collection screen: "There was an error in the Bokoblin Mask quiz from the Breath of the Wild pack. The answer 'they surround him', which should have been marked as correct, was presented as an incorrect option. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. An update will be posted once our response to this issue has been finalised."

Players who received incorrect marks missed opportunities to earn in-app medals, which can be exchanged for additional cards or wallpapers. Nintendo indicated a resolution would follow, though specific details remain pending. The quiz resumed normal operation the following day.

The Nintendo Today app distributes daily virtual trading cards and quizzes tied to Zelda's 40th anniversary celebrations, following a similar initiative for the Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
