Meta revealed its Meta VR Glasses on September 23, 2026 at Meta Connect, introducing a lightweight approach to virtual reality that separates the display from the compute hardware.

The glasses weigh 100 grams, comparable to a deck of cards, making them five times lighter than the Meta Quest 3. Computing power, battery, and storage are housed in a tethered puck that clips to a bag or fits in a pocket.

The frames feature a 5K Infinite Display built on micro-OLED panels with Dolby Vision lenses and Dolby Atmos audio. Full-color passthrough lets users see their surroundings while wearing the glasses.

Gaming is a core feature. The glasses will launch with more than 75 games playable using hand gestures, and users can access additional titles through Xbox Cloud Gaming. The device projects multiple screens and can turn any surface into a keyboard and touchpad.

Meta also highlighted non-gaming capabilities including cinema-like video experiences, workspace applications, and hologram technology for calls. The latter uses photorealistic digital representations with real-time facial expressions and spatial audio positioning.

The Meta VR Glasses will launch in spring 2027 for $1,299.99 USD.
