LEGO and PlayStation Announce New 1,911-Piece Console Building Set

A recent State of Play broadcast officially revealed an upcoming partnership between the brick-building toy makers at LEGO and the PlayStation brand. The new LEGO PlayStation set is designed as a nostalgic throwback celebrating the origins of the original 1994 console design, following previous LEGO video game console models like the NES, Game Boy, and Sega Genesis.

The build incorporates several interactive features, including an opening button, an illuminating light, and a physical controller that plugs directly into the main set. Echoing concepts from previous successful recreation sets, the build also houses two hidden interior dioramas that pay homage to early successes for the PlayStation brand: one dedicated to Ape Escape and the other to Gran Turismo.

While initial details during the broadcast were minimal, a subsequent update on the official LEGO website confirmed that the set comprises 1,911 pieces. The LEGO PlayStation is scheduled to officially release on October 4 and will carry a retail price of $179.99.
