Portuguese coach JTR joins FOKUS as head coach

FOKUS have announced Ricardo "JTR" Júnior as their new head coach, replacing Jakub "kuben" Gurczyński who was benched as the organization opted to "move forward with a new direction for the team."

The Portuguese coach comes to FOKUS after two years as assistant coach at FlyQuest, where he briefly served as head coach at BLAST Open London 2025. Before FlyQuest, JTR spent a year leading ODDIK, narrowly missing qualification to PGL Major Copenhagen through the Americas RMR.

JTR's earlier reputation comes from his time coaching Nigma Galaxy from 2021 to 2023. During that period, he oversaw the female squad's dominance on the ESL Impact circuit, including wins in the first two seasons of ESL Impact and victories at ESL Impact Valencia and Katowice.

FOKUS currently sit 55th in the global VRS rankings. The team has experienced roster changes this year, with Georgi "Jorko" Mitev and Sebastian "volt" Maloș departing in summer, replaced by Paavo "podi" Heiskanen and Jacob "jocab" Nerheden. Recent tournament results include 9th-16th at BLAST Bounty, 17th-32nd in the EWC open qualifier, and 9th-12th at Stake Pulse Beat II.

FOKUS have received an invite to the playoff stage of NODWIN Clutch Series 12 and are registered for ROG Journey Autumn, a $20,000 event in Skövde, Sweden.
