Ikea and Xbox Reveal Nine-Item YXSTABY Collaboration Collection

Microsoft's Xbox team and Ikea have officially unveiled their joint collaboration collection in its entirety, revealing that the line is named YXSTABY. Breaking from traditional Swedish product naming conventions, the new collection consists of nine distinct items designed to blend home furnishings with gaming culture and nostalgia.

Among the nine items included in the YXSTABY collection are a lounge chair equipped with a built-in controller holder and a side table. Other notable pieces draw direct inspiration from iconic Xbox hardware. These include a stool shaped and styled after an Xbox analogue stick, designed by Ikea Sweden designer David Wahl to tilt and move like a thumbstick while users play, along with a bowl featuring a design taken from the cross of the Xbox Elite Controller Series 2. The lineup is rounded out by a decorative pillow and specialized boxes intended for collector's displays.

David Wahl commented on the nostalgic nature of the project, noting that he queued all night 25 years ago to purchase the very first Xbox console. Wahl explained that the primary design challenge for the thumbstick stool was ensuring it functioned properly with correct seating curves and stability while authentically mimicking the movement of a controller thumbstick.

The official launch day for the YXSTABY collection is set for October 1. Shoppers interested in acquiring pieces from the limited lineup are encouraged to arrive early, as strong demand is anticipated and items may sell out quickly.
