Game Freak Announces Mobile Laundry Game Ame no Chi Hare Onna Using Real-Life Weather Data
Game Freak has announced Ame no Chi Hare Onna, a new free-to-play mobile laundry game for iOS and Android in Japan that uses real-world weather data.
Game Freak has announced a new mobile game titled Ame no Chi Hare Onna, which is being directed by Shigeru Ohmori. Ohmori has served as the lead director of the Pokémon series since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire over a decade ago. Co-developed by Chronogate, the title is a free-to-play mobile game for iOS and Android in Japan and has been described as a laundry game.
Set in modern-day Japan, the game follows characters Hare Onna and Kumorin, who can harness the weather and turn it into magic. This mechanic serves as a central component of the gameplay loop by using real-world weather data. More information regarding the project has been revealed through a Hare Onna Club Meeting stream and at Tokyo Game Show, alongside a teaser trailer.
While Game Freak is best known for the Pokémon franchise, the studio regularly releases other titles. Recent console releases outside of Pokémon include HarmoKnight, Little Town Hero, Tembo the Badass Elephant, and Beast of Reincarnation. The studio also develops mobile games fairly frequently ahead of upcoming franchise releases.
