Epic Games announced the return of Fortnite to the App Store worldwide, with the notable exception of Australia. The global comeback follows prolonged legal proceedings in the United States. Apple originally removed the battle royale game from its platform in August 2020 because the developers attempted to bypass the standard App Store commission.

The return to the global marketplace took nearly six years. Fortnite reappeared in the American App Store last May, and it also returned to Google Play a few months later after being removed in 2020. Despite the global rollout, Epic Games stated that its battle with Apple is not entirely over.

Epic Games expressed dissatisfaction that Apple is allegedly ignoring an Australian court decision requiring the tech giant to abandon monopolistic practices in the country. Consequently, the game remains unavailable on the local App Store.

"We will continue to challenge Apple's anticompetitive App Store practices of banning alternative app stores and competition in payments," Epic Games stated. The company added that while regulators in Japan, the European Union, and the United Kingdom have passed laws to address these practices, Apple continues to evade them through fees, scare screens, and onerous requirements.
