Fable Targets Modest Playtime Keeping in Line With Original Trilogy
Playground Games' upcoming Fable reboot will feature a main questline lasting 15 to 20 hours, offering a more modest playtime compared to modern sprawling RPGs.
In an era where major role-playing games frequently demand triple-digit time commitments from players, the upcoming Fable reboot from Playground Games is charting a different path. According to developers speaking with Polygon, the game is designed to stay in line with the length of the original trilogy rather than ballooning into an excessively long epic.
Associate game director Will Kennedy explained that the main questline will take roughly 15 to 20 hours to complete. Additionally, players can expect an extra 15 to 20 hours of optional side quests and open-world exploration content. While the RPG includes life simulation features—such as marrying townsfolk and purchasing houses—that could theoretically keep players engaged indefinitely according to game director Craig Littler, the core structured content remains concise.
This structured length mirrors the previous three mainline titles in the series. By avoiding a massive, hundred-hour runtime, the title aims to provide a focused experience for players looking for a more traditional RPG adventure without the overwhelming grind.
