Danganronpa 2×2 Producer Reassures Players After High PC Requirements Spark Fan Concern

Spike Chunsoft producer Shohei Sakakibara has reassured fans that the current recommended PC requirements for Danganronpa 2×2 are due to be updated. The statement comes after many players expressed shock at how high the specifications were for a visual novel.

The initially announced recommended PC specifications called for an Intel Core i7-14700 or AMD Ryzen 7 7700 CPU, alongside an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT GPU, plus 32 GB of memory. Players noted that these requirements felt excessive for the genre, matching or exceeding components recommended for heavy hitters like Monster Hunter Wilds.

Likely in response to fan concerns, Sakakibara clarified via social media that the recommended PC specifications had been set with 4K high-quality settings in mind. As a result, the hardware demands ended up looking considerably more powerful than necessary for a standard playthrough. He stated that the recommended specifications will be updated at a later date.

Sakakibara also addressed speculation that the Nintendo Switch version might run poorly due to the initial PC specifications. He stated there is no need to worry because the game has been properly optimized for the platform. In a separate post, he mentioned that the game was already running smoothly on his Switch and encouraged players to choose their preferred platform without worry.

Taking lessons from Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE, whose lengthy loading times on Nintendo Switch drew criticism, Sakakibara noted that Danganronpa 2×2 features lightning-fast loading times. Danganronpa 2×2 is scheduled to launch on January 14, 2027, across PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
