Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion Released for Switch 2

Square Enix has officially released a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. Announced during a Nintendo Direct shadowdrop, the port became available for the console on September 9, 2026. This follows the publisher's trend of bringing existing Final Fantasy titles to Nintendo's platform successor.

The title serves as a traditional remaster rather than containing new story updates. It follows protagonist Zack Fair's adventures as a SOLDIER with Shinra prior to the main events of Final Fantasy VII, while providing insight into Sephiroth's transformation from a company hero into a major antagonist. Players can expect updated graphics, a fixed and adjusted camera, a new soundtrack, and full voice acting. Additionally, certain character models and designs feature unified adjustments to align more closely with recent franchise releases.

Originally debuting on the PlayStation Portable, the updated Reunion remaster has previously expanded to various platforms including the original Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Following the initial Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo Treehouse Live provided further showcases for the newly announced games.
