Castlevania NES is free on iOS and Android for 30 days

Konami is making the original Castlevania available for free on iOS and Android as part of the franchise's 40th anniversary celebration. The NES version, first released in Japan in 1986 and internationally in 1987, can be downloaded at no cost for a limited time.

According to Konami's announcement, the free period runs until the end of October 24 in Japan. Players who download the game before the deadline can continue to access it after the promotion ends, even if they delete it from their devices.

The mobile port does feature a virtual controller interface, which may reduce the visible game area compared to the original. Those seeking a larger experience can look to Castlevania Anniversary Collection on Steam, which includes multiple classic titles from the series.

Castlevania has grown to encompass more than 30 games across its lifetime. The series marks its 40th anniversary on September 26, 2026. Konami described this mobile release as a token of gratitude to players who have supported the franchise over the decades.

The free offer applies to both the App Store and Google Play.
