ASUS ROG XBOX Ally X20 Releases October and Pre-Orders Are Now Live

ASUS has officially announced that the next iteration of its handheld device line, the ROG XBOX Ally X20, is scheduled to go on sale starting October 15. Pre-orders for the new hardware are live now, giving consumers the choice of purchasing the handheld as a standalone unit or as part of a high-end bundle featuring ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 gaming AR glasses, complete with a dbrand 'Killswitch' and a Pelican case.

As expected given its high-end specifications, the pricing for the ROG XBOX Ally X20 is substantial. Purchasing the standalone XBOX ROG Ally X20 costs £1,299, while opting for the comprehensive XREAL bundle raises the total price to £2,299. Building upon previous releases like the ROG Ally, ROG Ally X, and subsequent XBOX-branded variants, this new model introduces several hardware upgrades aimed at setting a higher bar for the portable gaming space.

Among the key improvements is a new 7.4-inch screen that utilizes an OLED panel for the first time in the line's history. The upgraded display features HDR support and a 120Hz variable refresh rate (VRR), marking a clear step up from the standard LCD screens found on earlier models. Physically, the device features a translucent shell accented with gold details. Although it is heavier than the previous Ally X model, it aims to maintain user comfort via full-sized buttons, triggers, grips, and sticks, the latter of which now include drift-proof TMR thumbsticks.
