Assassin's Creed Odyssey Becomes Highest-Rated Game in Series on Steam Following Christopher Nolan Movie
Assassin's Creed Odyssey has surpassed Assassin's Creed 2 to become the highest-rated game in the series on Steam following the release of Christopher Nolan's latest film adaptation of Homer's Odyssey.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey has claimed the title of the highest-rated installment in the long-running franchise on Steam. At the time of reporting, the eleventh mainline entry in Ubisoft's historical open-world franchise holds an 89 percent positive review rating on Valve's marketplace based on overall reviews. This rating places it above the previous top-tier entry, Assassin's Creed 2, which maintains an 86 percent rating.
This surge in player reception and interest is tied to Christopher Nolan's newest cinematic venture, which adapts Homer's epic poem. The blockbuster features grand elements from the classic tale, such as a giant animatronic cyclops, body horror, the Trojan Horse, Scylla and Charybdis, and various twists. The film has proven to be a massive commercial success, bringing in over $1.446 billion at the global box office.
The cinematic release has generated a significant boon in interest for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, as audiences leaving screenings seek out an open-world video game adventure set in ancient Greece. Meanwhile, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has experienced a similar crossover effect alongside the theatrical success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
