Anbernic's New 55G1 Handheld Officially Launches with Snapdragon Processor and Switch Lite-Inspired Design

Anbernic's latest emulation handheld, the 55G1, is officially available. Following initial reveals that noted its heavy design inspiration from Nintendo's handheld-only Switch Lite system—complete with 2.5D glass over a 5.5-inch screen, dual front-facing speakers, and symmetrical Hall Effect thumbsticks with RGB lighting—Anbernic has disclosed the full technical specifications powering the new device.

Running on the Android 14 operating system, the Anbernic 55G1 marks the company's very first Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered device. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 CPU paired with a Qualcomm Adreno A12 GPU. Additional hardware features include an active cooling internal fan, a 6,000mAh battery, a 5.5-inch Incell IPS display with a 1920x1080 resolution, and support for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. For physical controls, the unit relies on 3D Hall-effect triggers and joysticks.

The handheld is currently being offered in two separate memory and storage configurations. A 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model starts at $139.99, while an 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version begins at $164.99. Buyers can choose from three available color options: Black, Retro Grey, and Indigo. Additional physical connections and expansion features carried over from the device's design lineage include a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB-C port, and MicroSD card support.
