Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies VR Coming to Meta Quest Platforms in 2027
Capcom announced a virtual reality adaptation of Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies for Meta Quest headsets next year. The VR version lets players inspect evidence, examine crime scenes in first person, and use voice commands during cross-examinations
Capcom has announced Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies VR, a virtual reality adaptation of the fifth mainline entry in the lawyer-themed adventure series. The game will launch on Meta Quest platforms in 2027.
The VR version introduces hands-on gameplay mechanics unavailable in the original. Players can pick up evidence to inspect, explore environments for clues in first person, and use gestures and voice commands during courtroom cross-examinations. Notably, players can literally yell "Objection!" to object to a witness's contradiction. Dialogue sequences during trials retain their original third-person perspective, preserving the characters' distinctive over-the-top animations.
Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies VR will release on Meta Quest 3S, Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 2. According to Amata K.K., the developer handling the port, the original Meta Quest may also receive a version, though the company's official description does not explicitly confirm this.
Capcom is neither developing nor publishing the VR adaptation; that responsibility falls entirely to Amata K.K. Dual Destinies was selected for the VR treatment as the earliest mainline Ace Attorney title designed in 3D, making it the most suitable candidate for virtual reality adaptation. The game released in 2012 on Nintendo 3DS and received an HD remaster in 2024 as part of the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy collection.
Fans have been anticipating a new mainline Ace Attorney entry for years. The announcement of a VR port rather than a new game marks an unexpected direction for the series, which has received thorough HD collections and re-releases of its back catalog in recent years.
